What would happen if Yoda and Obi-Wan fought Palpatine?

If Obi-Wan had fought Sidious, he would have died. That is why he sent Obi-Wan to Anakin. If Yoda had gone to confront Anakin, nothing would have changed. Obi-Wan would have been the only person that stood any chance of not only defeating Anakin, but also, most importantly, bringing him back to the Light.
