Will a broken palm tree regrow?

If you cut off a palm tree at the trunk, it will not grow back. On multi-stemmed palms, also called c_lustering palms_, the plant will continue to grow if the trunk is severed, but it will rejuvenate new stems from the roots to replace the removed one. The specific stalk or trunk that you cut off will never come back.

When healthy, palm trees rarely topple over due to wind, says arborist Wayne Tyson. “They can blow back and forth and never break,” he said. The result can be trees that are too tall for their own root structures and can be more susceptible to falling over in windy conditions.

First of all, how do palm trees survive hurricanes? With a strong trunk and open canopy, palms are wind-resistance.
