How does opaque react to light?

Light cannot shine through opaque materials at all. In fact, opaque materials absorb the light that shines on them. A little of the light is reflected back, though. Each object reflects some light waves of a certain color.

Does opaque let light through?

Translucent objects allow some light to travel through them. Materials like frosted glass and some plastics are called translucent. Opaque objects block light from traveling through them. Most of the light is either reflected by the object or absorbed and converted to thermal energy.

What happens if we place an opaque object in Coloured light?

If we place an opaque object in coloured light, then the shadow formed will be in the black in color because opaque objects do not let any light pass through them either it is coloured or it is not.

An object that is transparent has a shadow that is barely visible. You may even have to squint to see the shadow. Objects that are translucent have shadows that are a little darker. An object that is opaque has a very dark shadow.

Why doesn’t light pass through paper?

If a material has many changes in density (as paper does) or has a very rough surface (as frosted glass does), then light will be refracted or reflected in random directions, so even if the reflection is not terribly strong, no image will pass through.
